The ball featured in all prints
offered on this site is a genuine game-used ball from
the Inaugural Game at Busch Stadium in St. Louis on April
10, 2006. The game pitted the St. Louis Cardinals against
the visiting Milwaukee Brewers. The Cardinals won that game 6-4 but not
without some offensive help from an unlikely
source.
In the bottom of the
seventh inning pitcher Mark Mulder stepped to the plate with
two outs and the Cardinals up 4-2. Second baseman Aaron
Miles was on first after drawing a walk. Mulder worked
the count full before belting a two run homer to center
field, becoming the first Cardinal pitcher, and just the
second Cardinal (Pujols homered earlier in the third), to homer
in the new ballpark. This ball was fouled off one pitch
before the home run.
